Revolution / (rev·o·lu·tion)
A dramatic and wide-reaching change in the way something works or in people’s ideas about it.
We’ve always done things a bit differently at RRC. The Revolution Series is another example of “out-of-the-box” thinking that has resulted in a premium, 100% American made fly rod at a price that won’t inspire you to toss tea into the harbor!
The tapers for this series were designed by (arguably) the finest taper designer in the country and the blanks are hand rolled right here in the eastern US. These blanks have much thicker walls than their contemporary counterparts which results in superior durability and far less breakage.
The component selection includes Lemke reel seats, REC titanium-nickel Cerecoil guides, and Snake brand ECO-coated snake guides and tips. Of course, we source the cork directly from Portugal and turn the fighting butts and grips in our shop.
The Revolutions are also available in a musky configuration, which features an extended fighting butt, a longer foregrip, single footed REC titanium-nickel Cerecoil guides for the entire guide-train, and a tip top with a zirconium insert. The extended butt and the larger foregrip is designed to facilitate casting the much larger flies used for musky as well as facilitating the figure-8 maneuvers at the boat. The specialized guide-train and tip prevent the “grooving” that occurs with the snake guides and tips of most musky rods.
Each rod is specifically built to order (the typical lead time is 2 – 3 weeks) so if you’d like a minor customization here or there, just drop us a line after your order!
And like all Reilly Rod Crafters Rods, these rods carry a lifetime warranty.

Bryan –
I took the Revolution 12wt Musky build with me down to Belize to target tarpon, and anything else willing to eat. The guides consistently were impressed with how well the rod cast, and while I had a lighter weight rod with me to target smaller tarpon, they consistently wanted me to cast with the twelve since I was getting the fly to where they wanted, and still landing soft enough to give the presentation they felt was needed.
I think the reason why I was more accurate was due to the longer handle on the musky build. While it is very helpful for performing figure 8’s, it also allows me to choke up on the rod during casting, making the rod act more like a 8’6″ boat rod that is starting to become in fashion. This let me quickly change the length of the rod with a simple move of my hand.
The longer handle also allowed me to stabilize the rod while stripping, but still take the longer, slow strips needed for tarpon fishing (I have a tendency to jerk the rod out of habit, so stabilizing the rod against my body was my way to try and prevent that).
As with every other Reilly I have cast, the Revolution is really quite a remarkable fly rod.
