Armed with a simple, self-fashioned, bamboo pole, Justin learned to fish at a very young age behind his family home on a branch of the Mekong River in Vietnam. Fishing quickly became a passion that has been a driving factor in his life ever since.
In the early 2000s his family relocated to Michigan City, IN. One day, as he was looking to purchase some tackle before heading to do some bass fishing at a nearby lake, he met a couple of local anglers. They told him about some big fish that were being caught at a small creek nearby. Justin went to check-out the report and saw a couple of anglers catching steelhead on fly rods.
Within a matter of days Justin caught his first steelhead on a fly, an 11-1/2 pound beauty, and he has been locked in ever since. Within a few months of his first steelhead, Justin launched Fly Angling Adventure guide service specializing in steelhead fishing the Great Lakes tributaries, and in doing so, he became the first Vietnamese fly fishing guide in the world, and the first international ambassador for Vietnam fly fishing! Business boomed and Justin changed his guide business to Trail Creek Guide Service.
A decade later, Justin moved his family to the Fort Lauderdale area and has since built a reputation as one of the leading exotics and peacock bass guides in South Florida. Whether on foot or aboard the “Lady Jade”, a day with Justin is always an adventure. …And his shore lunches are beyond compare!
